Wellies packed? Glitter at the ready? Glastonbury is about to kick off, and Anita Rani’s getting the party started early with a fresh haircut. The TV presenter has chopped in a gorgeous new super-short bob, which hits the perfect note between rock chick and rock chic.
Anita shared the hair update on Instagram, posting a close-up snap of her choppy new ’do swept sassily over one eye. And, like all great haircuts, it’s as much about how it makes you feel as how it looks.

Ahead of the festival, Anita has already road-tested her new style in a rather more glamorous arena: the premiere of F1: The Movie. She looked fabulous with her chic bob blow-dried to a smooth finish, paired with a classic smokey eye and nude lip combo.
Her cut came courtesy of super-stylist Michael Douglas, aka Mr Davina McCall and one of our favourite scissor pros in the business. He also shared a behind-the-scenes video of the makeover, which involved a quick colour refresh with a £12 Garnier box dye.
The pair have been great friends since they appeared on The One Show together, and the video reveals they’re both gearing up for the good times at Glastonbury. Chatting while chopping, Michael says: ‘Anita’s come for the chop because we’re off to Glastonbury this week and we want to look cool.’
‘She wanted her hair coloured first of all, so I went in with a bit of Garnier Good 4.15, a nice, dark, rich brown with a tinge of red in there.’
Anita’s backwash treatment is also a very affordable affair, with Michael revealing he’s used ‘the wonderful OGX bond repair range, which is new at the moment’. A snip, you might say, for a fiver on Amazon.
The cut itself is just the thing for shaking around on the fields of Worthy Farm, with the sort of choppy texture that gets better and better the more it’s ruffled up and rocked about. While Anita’s hair was already quite short, Michael has taken it up a notch by chopping off a couple of inches all over and cutting it extra-close into the nape of her neck.
‘Anita loves and looks fantastic with shorter hair,’ Michael says. ‘Some women just do. She’s got the hair for it, she’s got the face for it, everything. So we went for a nice big choppy bob with lots of body and texture.’
As Anita is naturally blessed with such thick hair, Michael has thinned it out slightly to reduce the bulk at the back and give a ‘lovely inverted shape’.
The blow-dry takes only a few moments, using his MdLondon Blow Hair Dryer (the perks of a short cut), with Michael using a vent brush for smoothness and then his No2 Radial Brush for a few rock ’n’ roll kicks and flicks.
Michael adds: ‘Wow. She just looks so good.’
