Who can possibly keep up with the great beauty evolution of Pamela Anderson? Having stripped it all away, she’s now putting it all back – and in ever-more fascinating ways. What began with a dab of lip gloss to end the bare-faced era quickly escalated with a Marilyn Monroe-like makeover, and now Pammy is back in Baywatch-level bombshell mode for the new Naked Gun movie. As the great, late Frank Drebin might put it, it looks like the cows have come home to roost.
Pammy’s iconic new (or should we say old?) look is unveiled in a poster and trailer for the rebooted spoof franchise, which lands in cinemas 1 August. The actress has her blonde hair teased into a huge blonde blowdry, while her lips are painted siren scarlet to match her ultra-tight red dress.
The last time we saw Pammy wearing this much red clingy Lycra, she was running in slow-motion in the Baywatch credits.
The matchy-matchy theme extends to her nails, with Pamela's immaculately manicured hands clinging to Liam Neeson, who has stepped into the late Leslie Nielsen’s detective shoes as his son, Frank Jr. Fear not, he’s very much inherited the dad joke genes.
The new Naked Gun trailer sees Pammy in a succession of slinky outfits, as well as a rather suggestive position in a hilariously risqué visual gag that would have made even Austin Powers blush.
We could tell you that the plot involves Liam’s Police Squad cop helping to investigate the murder of Pamela’s character’s brother, but somehow we suspect that the storyline is secondary. Nothing to see here, please disperse…
When not busying herself with slapstick and schoolboy humour, Pamela has been taking on different glam duties for her new role as Biolage’s celebrity ambassador. She’s professed herself equally delighted and surprised to find herself the face and hair of a beauty brand at the age of 57.
‘Who would’ve thought at this age, I’d be in this industry, in the beauty world, and just kind of starting my career?’ she tells People, in an interview about her partnership.
She confesses she’s put her hair through the wringer over the years, with all the hot rollers and sunshine: ‘I can’t believe I still have a hair on my head with everything it’s gone through.’
She attributes her enduringly good barnet to strong hair genes and a new, low-maintenance attitude. She happily confesses she’s reached a stage in her life when she’s happy to go to bed with damp hair and ‘it is what it is’ in the morning.
While she’s fussy about her shampoos and styling products, she’s very laid-back about her colour, which she maintains herself with a box dye – the cheaper the better. ‘I just grab any blonde, as long as it’s cruelty-free,’ she tells People. ‘I do it myself, 20 minutes, and I get stuff on sale.’
