We hold up our hands; sometimes we get it wrong. Earlier this week, we said Amal Clooney had just had her ultimate hair moment with her utterly luscious ‘French Riviera blowout’ at the Cannes Film Festival. Now, though, we have to concede she may have hit upon something that’s even more delicious. We apologise.

Amal’s hairdresser, Dimitris Giannetos, has just shared a new confectionary-inspired hair makeover he’s whipped up for Mrs George Clooney, and it’s a look all brunettes will be craving. The stylist has drizzled sugary new ripples of colour on to Amal’s rich, dark chocolate hair, and served it up with a flourish on his Instagram.

He captioned the photos: ‘AMAL CLOONEY in Osaka 💛 Caramel Flan highlights for Amal’. The lighter pieces fall around her face and are swirled into divine, full-fat ripples that cascade down to her waist.

The face-framing pieces create a flattering, sun-kissed effect and add even more radiance to Amal’s complexion – something she doesn’t actually need, but what girl ever said, ‘No thanks, I’m glowy enough already’?

Reacting to Dimitris post, Hollywood colourist Chad Kenyon writes: ‘Caramel flan gorgeousness 💛’, while others begged for a full rundown of the products used and a step-by-step tutorial.

As usual, multiskilled Dimitris was doing duty on Amal’s makeup, which is a masterclass in ‘modern Nineties supermodel’. Think nude-brown lips plus tonal smokey eyeshadow and lashes fluttery enough to fan away a heatwave.

While he hasn’t shared the specific tools he used this time, his Cannes photos revealed that he used Charlotte Tilbury products, which we guessed were from Charlotte’s latest Super Nudes range. (Find our review of that here.)

Amal’s caramel highlights are divine

Beauty watchers will know that Amal is one of Charlotte’s favourite celebrity muses. She’s had a Tilbury lipstick named after her, and Charlotte even did her bridal makeup when she tied the knot with George, so it was no surprise to see her modelling Tilbury makeup on the Cannes red carpet.

She wasn’t the only one, though. This week, we’ve also been treated to the glorious sight of Helena Christensen wearing a classic Old Hollywood version of Charlotte Tilbury glam. It’s a true silver-screen look for Helena, with rich ruby-red lips painted to perfection.

Other stars leaning into the nostalgic mood over the past few days have included Pamela Anderson, who went full Marilyn Monroe with a new bob transformation. It’s been a truly vintage week!
