Don’t ask us why, but Victoria Beckham has form for turning coy about her hair when she reverts to her signature Posh bob. The fashion designer spent most of Paris Fashion Week playing a game of hidey boo with her new, shorter style, tucking it away into a succession of roll-necks to keep the world guessing. Now our eagle eye has detected a further hair update, and it’s hiding in plain sight.
During the intro to an Instagram tutorial about her brand’s new makeup brushes, we couldn’t help but notice a suspicious amount of hair fluffing going on as Victoria (mostly) hid her full look behind her phone.
Her oh-so-casual strand twiddling brings to mind the sort of low-key preening we do when we’ve had a mini hair makeover and are – ahem, cough, cough – subtly drawing attention to it while silently taking bets about whether our other half will actually notice.
We can’t say how observant David Beckham is, but we keep a close eye on everything Victoria does with her beauty regime, and we’re pretty sure there’s been a little tweaking to her latest Posh Bob iteration. The overall bob length seems a little shorter. There appears to be some new shaping and layering around the front, with shorter pieces falling on to her cheekbones.
And… do we detect a foray into fringe territory? Unless our eyes deceive us, Victoria seems to be flirting with curtain bangs. The look is bang on trend for S/S 25, so don’t be surprised that VB is at the forefront.
Whatever’s going on, her hair is certainly different to the more one-length style we saw when she officially unwrapped the new ’do at a royal reception with Queen Camilla.
Unfortunately, we’re not treated to the finished hair look to be completely sure what she’s done. Instead, Victoria cuts to a makeup tutorial, which does show her trusted scissor man Ken Paves on duty, but her new (?) fringe and layers clipped back while she gets her face painted. Oh, the tease.
While we wait to see what’s going on in Posh Bob World, we’ll have to content ourselves with an insight into Victoria’s makeup regime. The latest tutorial shows Victoria having her signature smokey look applied by elite MUA Francesca Abrahamovitch, using the (excellent) new Victoria Beckham Beauty makeup brush range.
Victoria notes she loves her brush range for turning makeup application into therapy: ‘It feels so soft on the skin as well,’ she says, of the big, fluffy brush being used to apply her blusher. ‘That’s the other thing I like about the brushes – you can get a really precise application into the skin. My skin can be quite sensitive, actually, so I need a really soft brush that’s firm enough to really be able to push the product in.’
While she makes no reference to any hair tweak, she openly admits she’s hiding a different beauty issue. As her MUA gets busy with the ‘skinny little brush’ in the range, Victoria says: ‘Because I want to cover up all the little, tiny blemishes, I want a really small, precise brush. This is great – it’s double ended as well, and you can really get the product in.’
We can’t see any spots on Victoria, but we really, really think we can see a hair change. We’ll be watching with interest.
