Ask any dermatologist (or beauty expert like Eve Cameron), and they’ll tell you that for consistently glowing, plump and clear-looking skin all you need in your skincare routine is a retinol, vitamin C and SPF. That’s it.

The retinol
Retinol (one of the main forms of Vitamin A) has a remarkable ability to transform the skin. As Dan Isaacs, Director of Research at Medik 8 says, "Retinol doesn’t just resurface the skin, it also enhances collagen production to combat fine lines and wrinkles, reduces blemish-causing bacteria and blocks the formation of excess melanin for a brighter, more even-toned complexion."
It does have a reputation for causing irritation and sensitivity, so start by using your retinol product once a week then build up gradually.

The vitamin C
As an antioxidant vitamin C works by neutralising ageing free radical molecules on the skin. These are caused by exposure to sunlight, pollution particles and even stress.
It’s commonly used to help clear uneven patches of skin and brighten anti-pigmentation spots, but this supercharged ingredient has so many more benefits. From boosting collagen production, which makes skin look plumper and springier, to reducing skin inflammation. If you've never used vitamin C before now is the time to start!

The SPF
With formulas that feel lightweight and super comfortable to apply, there’s no excuse not to incorporate a daily SPF into your skincare routine. "Unprotected exposure to UVA rays can lead to premature skin ageing and wrinkling (photoaging), and suppression of the immune system. While UVB rays will usually burn the superficial layers of your skin," dermatologist Dr Anjali Mahto told us. If you still crave a golden glow why not fake it with a golden glow-getter instead.
