Yes strawberry pasta is a thing - and this recipe is hot, sweet and weirdly delicious🍓🍝
This very divisive pasta is inspired by a very common dish in Poland, and is tennis player Iga Świątek favourite.

When Polish tennis player Iga Świątek had finished her match at Wimbledon, she was asked what her favourite meal was post game, and her answer was one we were not expecting. Strawberry pasta!?
That's right. Strawberry pasta or Makaron z Truskawkami as they call it in Poland. It is typically seen as a nostalgic, childhood treat that's given to children as a snack or for dessert, and of course we were very intrigued and had to give it a try ourselves.
Surprisingly, it was pretty good! The sweet strawberries mixed with the tang of the sour cream was a nice pair with the neutral flavoured pasta. It has a nice texture and felt quite refreshing to eat.
If you give this recipe a go at home, make sure to NOT salt your pasta when you boil it. You want the flavour to be as neutral as possible when pairing it with the strawberry sauce.
Ingredients
- 120 g
dried pasta
- 250 g
strawberries, rinsed and hulled
- 4 Tbsp.
soured cream
- 2 Tbsp.
honey
4-5 mint leaves, to garnish
Directions
- Step 1In a pot of boiling water, cook your pasta until al dente.
- Step 2While your pasta is cooking, prepare the strawberry sauce by blitzing up the strawberries, honey and soured cream in a food processor. It's up to you how smooth or chunk you'd like it.
- Step 3Drain your pasta and pour into a serving bowl and pour your strawberry sauce over the top.
- Step 4Serve with a few mint leaves and a strawberry garnish, if you like.
GH TIPS:
If you wanted to make this a little more savoury, you could roast the strawberries in the oven until golden and softened, and blend them with some feta for a lovely sweet and savoury flavour.
Serve with fresh basil leaves for a slightly different interpretation.
You can use any pasta shape you like for this dish, but we think a pasta with pockets works best to catch the sauce.
If this recipe isn't doing it for you, we actually have another strawberry pasta recipe which uses up leftover strawberry tops into a pesto. It's a great way to reduce your food waste and tastes delicious.
