Summer cocktail recipe ideas you need to try for the upcoming heatwave 😎☀️

We've turned the summer classic into a refreshing twist with the addition of sparkling white wine, making it the perfect drink for picnics or parties.
A firm holiday favourite, Sangria is a wine-based drink originating in Spain and Portugal (in fact, only Sangria hailing from these Iberian countries can be labelled “Sangria”) and is the ultimate drink on a hot summer's day.
Variations of the punch – often served in party-ready pitchers – vary widely across regions but our white wine Sangria recipe takes a tropical twist with the addition of pineapple juice, Cointreau and kiwis, which makes it the perfect addition to any summer parties you might be hosting.
What white wine is good for Sangria?
We recommend using a dry and acidic white wine like a Sauvignon Blanc or a Pinot Grigio. You still want to use a good quality wine for this recipe so the final result is balanced in flavour.
What are the basic ingredients for Sangria?
Traditionally it consists of wine (it can be any variation; white, red, rosé or sparkling), fresh chopped fruit, a mixer such as juice or flavoured tonic, and occasionally other liqueurs and spirits can be added to amplify the flavour profile.
What is white Sangria made from?
We've gone for a sparkling white wine in our recipe to add a delicate texture, as well as the addition of Cointreau for a hint of orange and pineapple juice for a tropical taste, too.
What can I mix with white wine to make it taste better?
We'd strongly recommend you try our white wine Sangria recipe as we've added in pineapple juice which really helps to give the overall flavour a tropical, sweet taste which is perfect if you're not a huge fan of white wine, otherwise try our red wine version for a red berry flavoured drink.
You can prep this cocktail ahead of time and store in the fridge for a few hours (if using regular still white wine), allowing the flavours to muddle and develop. We love serving alongside classic Andalucian flavoured dishes (think grilled padron peppers, followed by a slice of Spanish omelette or this one pan chicken and chorizo rice).
