An experienced and highly skilled team of food writers, stylists and digital content producers, the Good Housekeeping Cookery Team is a close-knit squad of food obsessives. Cookery Editor Emma Franklin is our resident chilli obsessive and barbecue expert, who spends an inordinate amount of time on holidays poking round the local supermarkets seeking out new and exciting foods. Senior Cookery Writer Alice Shields is a former pastry chef and baking fanatic who loves making bread and would have peanut butter with everything if she could. Her favourite carb is pasta, and our vibrant green spaghetti is her weeknight go-to. Lover of all things savoury, Senior Cookery Writer Grace Evans can be found eating crispy corn and nocellara olives at every opportunity, and will take the cheeseboard over dessert any time (though she cannot resist a slice of tres leches cake). With a wealth of professional kitchen know-how, culinary training and years of experience between them, they are all dedicated to ensuring every Good Housekeeping recipe is the best it can be, so you can trust they’ll work (and if they don’t – we’ll have the answer for why*) every time (*90% of the time the answer is: “buy an separate oven thermometer”!).
Margarita Cocktail
Tangy and oh so refreshing. The salt rim on a Margarita cocktail isn’t just for appearances, it helps balance the flavours too.

Our Margarita cocktail recipe is really easy to rustle up and looks impressive with a signature salt rim and thinly sliced lime.
The classic cocktail is a perfect balance of tequila, Triple Sec and lime juice, mixed together to create a deliciously zingy cocktail. The salt rim off-sets the sweetness of the Margarita.
If you're looking for a cocktail that's even more refreshing on warm evenings then a classic Margarita, then there is a frozen Margarita. For an extra refreshing twist, we've made our frozen Margarita cocktail recipe with orange and lime ice lollies, all whizzed up in a blender. Or for an extra twist try our recipe for a Rose Margarita (aka a pink Margarita). Cheers.
Ingredients
- 60 ml
silver tequila
- 30 ml
Triple Sec orange liqueur
- 30 ml
fresh lime juice, plus lime wedge to serve
Ice, to shake and to serve
Directions
- Step 1Shake tequila, Triple Sec, lime juice and a handful of ice in a sealed cocktail shaker (or a jam jar with a lid).
- Step 2Put a little fine salt on a small plate. Rub the rim of a small glass with the lime wedge, then dip in the salt to coat.
- Step 3Fill glass with more ice cubes, then strain in the margarita, garnish with a lime wedge and serve.
GH TIP: Easily turn this into a spicy marg by adding some slices of jalapeno into the shaker and straining.
