We've been independently researching and testing products for over 120 years. If you buy through our links, we may earn a commission. Learn more about our review process.

These days, taking a babymoon practically counts as required travel. Soon, the two of you will become three (or more!), and late-night feedings, mounds of baby gear and convos about teething will replace your "just us" experiences. Not to mention that you probably won't go anywhere in the next three years without a diaper bag, car seat and stroller. Sure, traveling with kids will be wonderful in its own right, but it hits different — so start planning your babymoon now.

It's worth noting that many cruise lines, including Royal Caribbean, Virgin Voyages and Celebrity, don't allow passengers who will be more than 23 weeks along by the end of the sailing. Airlines prohibit passengers who are more than 36 weeks pregnant from flying domestically, while international flight cut-offs may be even earlier in the pregnancy, according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Overall, the second trimester is the best time to babymoon because morning sickness will hopefully have faded away, and you might not be experiencing the swelling and discomfort that the third trimester sometimes brings. But always ask for your OB's opinion.

While you can babymoon at a resort that has a whole package planned out for you, curating your own adventure or even just winging it is fun too. "Think about what kind of trip you want to get in before your life changes," says Sarah Firshein, head of editorial at Tripadvisor and mom of two. "It might mean a last hurrah in a great food city where you can eat at incredible restaurants, or it could mean relaxing on the beach for a weekend with a mocktail and a good book."

Whether you want some me time, a romantic couple's getaway, a spa-focused trip or a whirlwind adventure, we curated this list of great babymoon spots near and far. Once your bundle arrives, research the best spots for baby's first vacation.

Where do you begin with Paris? "It has incredible hotels at all budgets, Michelin-star restaurants, little dive spots and world-class art museums," says Firshein, who babymooned in Paris when she was pregnant with her first son. "We had the kind of trip that would be hard to have now with young kids." Visiting during the holiday season, Firshein and her husband wandered around the city looking at lights and popped in and out of art museums, including the Monet-filled Musée de l'Orangerie at the Jardin de Tuileries. "I also remember being in the lobby bar at Rosewood Hôtel de Crillon," she says. "My husband had a cocktail, and I had the most incredible mocktail you could imagine, and it's one of those core memories that stands out in our relationship."
