Dyson Ball Animal 3 Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Who it's best for: Anyone who has wall-to-wall carpeting or a larger floor plan to tackle — and especially if they also have pets
Why we love it: In our evaluations, this upright vacuum from Dyson removed ground-in, embedded dirt from carpeting. We found the vacuum easy to maneuver both on carpet and hardwood floors — despite its larger size. Like the V15 Detect, it also comes with a Motorbar cleaner head to remove hair from the brush as you vacuum. Its features don't stop there, though. The Ball Animal 3 also has auto-adjusting suction and whole-machine filtration to trap pet dander and dust.

Dyson Digital Slim
Who it's best for: Those who want a budget-friendly Dyson cordless stick vacuum that's light and easy to maneuver
Why we love it: Weighing under five pounds, the Dyson Digital Slim is the lightest model in this roundup. Plus, the slim, compact, light design makes it easy to maneuver. "Some models can be a bit bulky for small or petite consumers to use," says Carolyn Forté, the executive director of the GH Institute Cleaning Lab, who has been testing and ranking the best vacuum cleaners for over 40 years.

Who it's best for: Users looking for a compact, lightweight vacuum
Why we love it: Although it looks nearly identical to the V15 in photos, the V12 Detect Slim is smaller in size, lighter in weight and lower in price. In our Lab tests, this model aced our performance evaluations for picking up pet hair, vacuuming bare floors and cleaning the edges along walls and stairs. The V12 also has a handy laser to illuminate dust on the floor, a colorful LCD display and a run time of up to 50 minutes.

Who it's best for: Anyone looking for the greatest bang for their buck
Why we love it: “We were impressed with this Dyson model when we first tested it nearly five years ago, and now this version includes many more useful attachments, like a mini dusting brush and a fabric and mattress tool," Forté shares. We love the run time of up to 60 minutes, powerful suction, auto-adjusting suction according to floor type, whole-machine filtration and the LCD screen with real-time alerts. Who it's best for: The Gen5detect may be worth the steep price (even with the $250 discount) if you're willing to splurge for tons of special attachments and if you want the absolute best model that Dyson has to offer.
Why we love it: Forté noted that the Gen5detect has many of the same features we've tested on other models, but this vacuum has up to 70 minutes of run time — which is the longest on this list. The brand also claims it uses their most powerful motor for excellent suction abilities and the vacuum comes with tons of attachments to help detect dust, pick up pet hair and more. "It’s still pretty pricey compared to the others though I think it is Dyson’s top-of-the-line model," said Forté.

Is Black Friday a good time to buy a Dyson vacuum?
"It's a great time to snag a model you've been eyeing at a reduced price," Forté says. If you're looking for a cordless stick or upright vacuum, then there is no better time than right now to shop for a Dyson vacuum. But as far as we've been told and from what my research has shown, there will be no worthwhile deals on Dyson's handheld or robot vacuums.
Almost all of the picks on this list are cordless stick vacuums, each at varying costs and levels of discounts. "There’s so much overlap between all the Dyson vacuums that they are all good, really," Forté says.
