• Costco is selling a two-set, Jurassic World-themed LEGO bundle.
  • The included sets are Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus Rex and Dinosaur Fossils: Triceratops Skull.
  • The bundle retails for $249.99, for a savings of $44.99.

I've been covering toys for Good Housekeeping since 2018, and from what I've seen there are two things that never fall out of favor: dinosaur toys and LEGO sets. So it's a no-brainer that, when the two come together, the result is incredibly popular.

Costco seems to understand this, and it's putting two incredible Jurassic World sets together in a bundle, which it's offering at a discounted price. The two sets are Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus Rex (normally $249.99) and Dinosaur Fossils: Triceratops Skull (normally $44.99).

Together, the combined price is $249.99 — basically offering the Triceratops Skull set for free with the purchase of the T. Rex. Don't get me wrong, that's still a hefty price tag. But what I love about these sets is that the builder doesn't necessarily have to be a Jurassic Park or Jurassic World fan to enjoy them.

There are subtle nods to the movies: The T. Rex set comes with minifigures of Dr. Grant and Dr. Sattler, plus a piece of "fossilized amber," and the Triceratops has a minifigure of a "junior paleontologist" who's wearing a Jurassic Park shirt. But these aren't central to the building sets — it's not like they're recreations of specific scenes from the movies — which widens the appeal.

Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus Rex is a challenging building, coming in at more than 3,100 pieces and rated for builders ages 18+. But when they're done, they'll have a posable dinosaur skeleton, complete with display plaque, that really makes a statement on a desk or shelf. The head, jaw, hands and tail can be moved for the perfect pose.

A more kid-friendly build, Dinosaur Fossils: Triceratops Skull is less than 500 pieces and works for kids ages 9+. They only get to build the skull, but it still comes with a display stand for builders who are proud of their results. And while it's not as posable as the T. Rex, the jaw can open and close. There's also a mini build of a dig site, complete with mini fossils and tools.

There's only one big catch to the exclusive Costco deal: Costco members have to check their local stores to see if it's available. Costco shoppers have gone so wild for this bundle, it's sold out on Costco.com. Otherwise, the sets can be purchased separately at Amazon, Walmart or LEGO.com, but they won't be two-for-one.
