After testing over 200 pillows for the Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles Lab, I haven't seen any other pillow for neck pain like the best-selling Tempur-Pedic Tempur Neck Pillow. It's made with firm, supportive foam featuring a contour design to keep your head properly aligned when sleeping on your side or back.

It cinched the top spot as our best overall pillow for neck pain, and it's currently 40% off for the large one, costing just $59 for Amazon Prime Day. The small version is also on sale for 27% off. This is the lowest price it's been sold for all year.
Why I Love the Tempur Neck Pillow
I'm a true side sleeper — I never sleep on my back or stomach. It can be challenging to find a pillow that keeps my head in line with my shoulders, so that it's not tilting in any direction while sleeping. When I slept on the Tempur Neck Pillow, I noticed an immediate improvement in my alignment. I woke up with decreased neck and shoulder soreness and slept soundly through the whole night. Many of our testers experienced the same.
The Tempur Neck Pillow is sold in three heights, making it great for both side and back sleepers.
The foam is very firm, which helps keep your head stable and your neck fully supported, but it did take me a bit of time to get used to. I would personally have preferred if it was a bit softer for additional comfort, but that may make the pillow less effective at combating neck pain. The pillow itself is not washable, but it comes with a machine washable cover. The other thing to note is that it has a loose fit in a Standard-sized pillowcase because of its unique shape.
Based on our rigorous testing, I can confidently say this pillow is a great pick for side and back sleepers looking to ease neck and shoulder soreness.
