A RunDisney event is like no other race you'll ever participate in, because everyone is dressed for the occasion (think: colorful activewear meets cosplay, with lots of tutus) and there are plenty character photo ops along the way. And as someone who's ran a Princess Half Marathon, I was stoked to find out that RunDisney and Brooks teamed up to create the most magical collab yet.
At the RunDisney expo this past weekend, Brooks debuted the latest versions of the Ghost Max 2 and Adrenaline GTS 24 with a distinct Disney look. And while racers at the Expo got first dibs, there is a limited supply of these four styles available online starting today. They are currently a member exclusive, so you'll have to sign up for a free account to snag them. Given the speed at which the Disney Lululemon collab sold last fall, I'd act fast if you want to get a pair.
The Ghost Max 2 is made for logging long miles and comes in a Mickey, Minnie or RunDisney style. And they're not just cool aesthetically — our staffers swear by the shoes' performance.
Our editor, Samantha Jones, is an avid runner and wears the original Ghost Max. "Despite having tested no less than eight different shoe styles from Brooks, the Ghost Max is my favorite," she says. "The subtle rocker shape helps propel you forward in every stride without sacrificing cushioning. I wore this pair for every long run during my half marathon training last year, and I loved that they felt supportive and soft without being clunky."
The Ghost Max shoes are perfect for a RunDisney race if you are trying to keep ahead of the balloon ladies (who mark the minimum pace requirement and sweep the course), while also leaving time to take pics of yourself running through the castle and posing with characters.
If you are more of a walker, you might want to pick up the RunDisney-themed Adrenaline GTS 24 shoes. Our experts in the Good Housekeeping Institute picked these as one of the best walking shoes for women, highlighting the extra support they provide.
"When I was experiencing foot pain, I relied on my pair of the Adrenaline GTS 23 (a previous version), which offered snug support throughout the shoe and was even comfortable during long distances," says Emma Seymour, Textiles Lab Associate Director. She notes that this style is stiffer.
The RunDisney x Brooks Ghost Max 2 retails for $160, and the Adrenaline GTS 24 is $150 at BrooksRunning.com. I'm super tempted to grab a pair for all my trips to Magic Kingdom and Epcot where I log 20,000 steps or more, and want footwear that will keep me comfortable after a long day at the parks.
