Let's be real: Hosting isn't as easy and aesthetic as With Love, Meghan might have you believe. Yes, it's an excellent time to show off your fancy dinnerware—and receive a bunch of cute hosting gifts—but your job as a host is to make sure your guests have a great time. Is everyone getting along? Is there enough food? Do people have somewhere to perch? If you're lacking seats, as luck would have it, Costco just released a new iteration of its viral Transformer Table—and let's just say it's going to take your hosting game to a whole new level.
For the uninitiated, the Transformer Table brand is known for creating space-efficient tables that can quite literally be adjusted to fit into virtually any space. The magic lies in its ball-bearing system, which means you can make it as small as two feet long or as big as a whopping nine feet long. Extend the table to your desired length and add the leaves to create a sturdy setup.
In fact, many options come with adjustable benches, so your guests will have somewhere to sit and snack. You'll have plenty of space for a full-blown dinner party when you need it—and an intimate bistro table for date nights at home. Magic? We certainly think so.
As genius as this space-efficient table is, the older styles look a little...well, basic. However, it's like Transformer Table was reading our minds because they just dropped a new (and chicer) alternative. With a rounded tabletop and slotted base, this wooden option feels way more modern than the original version.
It also comes in three different colors—dark gray, brown, and natural—to fit in with most spaces. If you haven't been sold on the style alone, it's worth noting that this table's base also serves as hidden storage. Form, meet function.
The one catch? Depending on the exact color and configuration—it's sold as two, six, or seven-piece sets, Transformer Table's Round Dining Collection can cost up to $4,400. While we've certainly seen more expensive dining room sets, you have to admit this one isn't exactly cheap. Not to mention you'll have to search high and low to find one at your local Costco—or wait up to three weeks if you order one online.
Don't worry, though: We found a bunch of shape-shifting alternatives that are not only cheaper, but might also be eligible for expedited shipping with your Amazon Prime membership. You can thank us later when you invite us to this table's inaugural dinner party!
