If you're hosting a big holiday gathering, Costco is truly the perfect spot to do all your shopping. You can pick up all the essentials for your Hanukkah or Christmas dinner—ham, potatoes, prime rib, latkes, and more—and then stroll over to the liquor aisle to buy bottles for a big batch of punch or a case of wine. You can even walk around and find some gifts for your loved ones this year—because every Costco lover should have bulk goodies under the tree.
But if you forget to pick up any of those Christmas necessities and need to run out day of, will Costco be there for you? Here's what you need to know.
So, is Costco open on Christmas Day?
Alas! Costco will be closed on Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25. This news shouldn't come as a surprise to longtime Costco devotees. Costco stores are historically closed on Christmas Day every year.
In fact, it's just one of the handful of days that Costco closes. The other holidays you can expect closures on are Easter, Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and the Fourth of July. But good news: Store hours remain the same on the days leading up to the holiday, with most locations open from 9am until 5pm on Christmas Eve.
What stores will be open on Christmas Day?
Just because Costco won't be open doesn't mean you're out of luck when it comes to last-minute holiday shopping. If you're one of those people who waits until the very last minute to assemble ingredients for dinner and dessert, rest assured, these other stores should be open. However, make sure to check your local store's hours:
- 7-Eleven
- Duane Reade
- Rite-Aid
- Speedway
- Walgreens
Luckily, if you're reading this anytime before December 25, you still have time! If you start dreaming up your ideal menu now, Costco will surely help with a huge selection of baked goods, from a five pound pumpkin cheesecake to massive pies and pre-made side dishes. Consider this your reminder not to procrastinate this year!
