For many of us, decorating for Christmas is a source of joy and nostalgia. As a home editor, I love buying holiday decorations — but as an apartment renter, I often feel limited by the small space (and mainly, my lack of storage). Last year, I was strolling the aisles at my local Five Below when I spotted this small artificial tree for $5 and figured: It's so cheap, why not give it a try?
Let me tell you: This four-foot tree is so cute! I love bragging to my friends and family that it was only $5 — $5.55, to be exact. The affordable Christmas tree, also available in white, is sold in stores and at FiveBelow.com, which happens to have a ton of other trendy holiday decor and home items for under $5.
Considering the low price, there's an impressive number of branches on this artificial tree, giving it a full and lush appearance. I love that it's lightweight and all one piece, minus the stand that includes three easy-to-assemble pieces. You'll need to spend some time — maybe 15 to 20 minutes — fluffing up the branches, but they're very bendable and easy to maneuver.
Don't get me wrong: This tree is small. You might not want it to be your main Christmas tree, but I think it works well — especially if you're a renter or new homeowner who isn't ready for a pricey artificial tree. It's ideal for decorating small spaces, whether it's on a dresser in a kids' room, the kitchen counter or a window ledge in the living room.
I love that the tree includes a small storage bag, so it's easy to stow away. I unpacked my tree for the holiday season and it looked just as great as last year. As for decorating the tree, the branches aren't super sturdy, but they supported my string lights and miniature ornaments without any issues. Instead of a tree topper, I attached a white ribbon to keep it simple.
This year, I decided to skip the ornaments and adorn my tree with warm white lights, a mini faux fur skirt and the same white bow as the topper. I tucked the decorated tree into a corner next to my reading chair and the end result feels so cozy. This might be the best $5 I've ever spent on holiday decor!
