Finding cute, yet tasteful Halloween decor for spooky season can feel like a never-ending battle. There’s definitely some options out there (have you seen Anthropologie’s fall tabletop drop?), but there's also a fair share of cheesy, plastic decor that won't last beyond the season. It can take some digging to find the right thing or a very creative use of some art supplies. Fear not: it turns out, all you need is a big pair of googly eyes.
We got the inspiration from @kidsonkerthroad, who posted on Instagram about the adorable touch she added to her lawn. By simply placing a few massive googly eyes in the bushes and shrubs around the outside of her house, she added a playful touch that literally made the house come to life. "It makes them look like muppets and I love it!" the caption read, and we can't help but agree.
Porch decor is rarely as important as it is on All Hallows' Eve. How else will all the trick-or-treaters and passersby know that you’re the coolest house on the block? If you don’t want to go the massive Costco inflatable or 12-foot skeleton route (no judgment if you do), this is a quick and easy alternative. Simply get some giant googly eyes and decide where's the best place in your home to add a more lifelike feel. Many googly eyes come with self-adhesive, so you can peel and stick them to the spot of your choice. If you opt for the outdoor look, secure them to the bush with some garden stakes and tape. Think outside the garden, though—these could quickly go on the side of the house, on the front door, or even the mailbox. It's an excellent craft for the kids to help with, too.
This is even better for folks who don’t have the time to DIY something personal for their own decor. If you do, we have some ideas for Halloween wreaths that you should check out, including tutorials. Below, find even more cute Halloween decor that’s easy to place but will look like you spent hours choosing the perfect piece. Happy decorating!
