Today, the best Hulu originals include a variety of genres, so there’s something on the service for everyone to enjoy.
Whether you like to binge-watch the latest engrossing dramas and documentaries, or prefer lighter fare like comedies or romance shows, you’ll find critically acclaimed options on the streamer. Some popular titles, like Paradise or The Handmaid's Tale, you may have heard everyone talking about already. Others that are more niche might appeal just as much, if not more so. Paradise
One of the buzziest shows of the year so far, Paradise reunites creator Dan Fogelman and actor Sterling K. Brown, who previously worked together on This is Us. The political thriller follows Secret Service agent Xavier Collins (played by Brown) as he comes under suspicion for the murder of U.S. President Cal Bradford (James Marsden). In his search for the truth of what happened Bradford, Collins makes shocking discoveries about the seemingly idyllic community he inhabits. The series has already been renewed for season 2.
The Handmaid's Tale
The winner of multiple Emmys and Golden Globe awards, this adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s dystopian science fiction novel is one of the original series that put Hulu on the map. Currently in its sixth and final season, the show has moved beyond the book’s plot but still centers around life in Gilead (the former United States) after fertility rates are decimated and women capable of giving birth are held as slaves. The concluding season promises epic drama as June Osbourne (Elisabeth Moss) is pulled back into the resistance, and continues the fight to take down Gilead.

Only Murders in the Building
A fan favorite since it premiered in 2021, Only Murders in the Building recently won the 2025 SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. Starring Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez, the show chronicles three true-crime obsessives who live in the same Upper West Side apartment building and decide to start their own investigative podcast together. Throughout its four seasons (a fifth is currently in the works), there have also been hilarious appearances from the likes of Tina Fey, Paul Rudd, Meryl Streep, Eugene Levy and more.
Mid-Century Modern
This multi-camera sitcom comes from the creators of Will & Grace and hits many of the same comedic notes as their much beloved ‘90s show, with a modern twist. It follows three best friends, all single gay men, who decide to move in together and spend their golden years in Palm Springs. The all-star cast includes Nathan Lane, Matt Bomer and Nathan Lee Graham, as well as Linda Lavin in her last performance before her passing in December 2024.
The Bear
If you're not caught up on the phenomenon that is The Bear, now is the time to start. Jeremy Allen White stars as Carmy, a successful fine dining chef who returns home to Chicago to run his family's disorderly sandwich shop after his brother's passing. The supporting cast especially elevates this series, with standout performances from Ayo Edebiri, Matty Matheson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Season four will premiere on Sunday, June 15, 2025.
Reasonable Doubt
Fans of Shondaland will enjoy this spicy legal drama created by Raamla Mohamed, a former writer on Scandal and Little Fires Everywhere. It follows criminal defense lawyer Jax Stewart (Emayatzy Corinealdi) as she juggles high profile cases at work, along with plenty of personal drama related to her marriage, past romances, friendships, and more. The first two seasons are available to stream, and a third is currently in production.
How to Die Alone
Natasha Rothwell created and stars in this 2024 comedy about an airport employee who has a near-death experience on her 35th birthday, inspiring her to start living life more fully. Despite not being renewed for a second season, the show has been widely critically acclaimed and is hilarious, relatable viewing for anyone who has ever felt stuck or unlucky in love.
Nine Perfect Strangers
Based on the mystery novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty, Nine Perfect Strangers is set at a health and wellness resort in California founded by Masha Dmitrichenko (Nicole Kidman). Upon arriving, the resort guests realize the place and its owner are not as they seem, and dark secrets are uncovered about their surroundings and each other. Though this show was initially billed as a miniseries, it expanded into a second season which is scheduled to premiere in May 2025.
Deli Boys
When their multimillionaire father passes away suddenly, two Pakistani-American brothers discover that the family business, formerly thought to be a convenience store empire, is actually an underground drug ring. Plenty of comedy ensues as the duo must learn how to take over their father's secret enterprise, and critics have applauded the show's fresh take on the organized crime genre.
The Great
Running from 2020-2023, The Great was created by Australian writer Tony McNamara and is based on his 2008 play of the same name. The satirical story is based on Catherine the Great's life, but with an absurdist spin, ditching historical accuracy in favor of big laughs and entertainment. It has received numerous Emmy nominations, including those for stars Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult, who were nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress and Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in 2022.
Under the Bridge
This true crime miniseries is based on Rebecca Godfrey's book of the same name, which tells the tragic story of a 14-year-old girl who goes missing in British Columbia. Godfrey (Riley Keough) and a local police officer (Lily Gladstone) investigate a clique of teenagers who are ultimately accused of the girl's murder. Critics have praised the show for its strong cast and overall sensitive approach in depicting troubled young people.
Tell Me Lies
Based on the 2018 novel by Carola Lovering, Tell Me Lies follows the tumultuous love affair between Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White), both students at a fictional college in upstate New York. Two seasons of the steamy drama are currently available to stream, and a third is on track to premiere sometime in 2026.
Life & Beth
Amy Schumer created and stars in Life & Beth, a dramedy about a wine saleswoman whose life gets disrupted when her mother passes away and she starts having flashbacks to her teen self. Through revisiting her adolescence, Beth learns about who she is and who she wants to become in the present day. Critics have praised the show for showcasing one of Schumer's most nuanced and heartfelt performances to date.
Unprisoned
In Unprisoned, Paige Alexander (Kerry Washington) is a relationship therapist and single mom whose father Edwin (Delroy Lindo) gets released from a 17-year prison sentence. Edwin moves in with Paige and her teenage son, and in showing how the family attempts to move forward together, the series finds humor and heart in the aftermath of incarceration.
Ramy
Ramy Youssef, an Egyptian-American stand-up comic, won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Ramy Hassan in the first season of this Hulu original series. The comedy is a fictionalized version of Youssef’s real life as he navigates the challenges of growing up Muslim in America. Three seasons are currently available to stream, and Youssef recently spoke encouragingly about the potential for a fourth and final season.
