Set in a picturesque Northern California town, viewers enjoy all the action, romance and drama between its beloved citizens in the series derived from Robyn Carr's book franchise. From Melinda "Mel" Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) falling in love with Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson), Hope McCrea (Annette O'Toole) and Vernon "Doc" Mullins (Tim Matheson) overcoming strife in their decades-long relationship and plenty of others going through their struggles, the show thrives on the warmth, love and support everyone has when times get rough.
As Virgin River premieres its season 6 on December 19 — with season 7 already on the way! — you'll definitely find yourselves wanting more of the small-town feel after finishing it. Knowing that, we did some digging and rounded up some of our favorite TV shows that offer a similar vibe. While most may love to return to where they grew up, Maggie is plagued by her estranged father (Scott Patterson), no job and a potential love interest (Chad Michael Murray) who has secrets of his own.
The Way Home
This Hallmark series combines family and the magic of time traveling. Set around three generations of women (including Andie MacDowell and Chyler Leigh) living together in the small town of Port Haven, each one goes through her own journey to help uncover a past mystery that could also bring them back to each other in a way they all didn't see coming.
When Calls the Heart
On the air since 2014, this Hallmark drama explores the lives of those living in a frontier town in the 20th century. When a young woman (Erin Krakow) from the east comes to start a job as a schoolteacher, she brings with her hope, happiness, and the potential for the citizens to develop a bond they didn't have before.
Hart of Dixie
When New York City surgeon Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson) learns about the death of her long-lost father, she discovers he gave her his portion of the general practice he runs with a fellow doctor (Tim Matheson). There's just one catch: the position is in the small town of Bluebell, Alabama, and she must decide if she wants to pursue her dream at home or go on an adventure she never imagined for herself.
This Is Us
This well-loved NBC drama follows the Pearson family (including Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore and Sterling K. Brown among others) as they go through the trials of life. Told over the course of non-linear flashbacks, the series will certainly bring laughter, tears and maybe some appreciation for the ones you love the most.
Firefly Lane
Based on the book series of the same name, Firefly Lane tells the story of two best friends (Sarah Chalke and Katherine Heigl) who have been in each other's lives since childhood. When a tragedy happens in the present day, the show takes a look at how their bond came to be — and how it can change in an instant.
Chesapeake Shores
Abby O'Brien-Winters (Meghan Ory) is a high-powered New York businesswoman when she gets a frantic call about her family's inn in her hometown of Chesapeake Shores, Maryland. At the risk of the establishment foreclosing, she comes back home to help them out. But her visit also brings back years of fractured family emotions, leading her to wonder if she made the right decision in the first place.
Good Witch
A spinoff of the Hallmark movie franchise of the same name, the Good Witch series follows the residents living in the fictional town of Middleton. When Dr. Sam Radford (James Denton) moves in with his son, he meets love interest Cassie Nightingale (Catherine Bell), who hides how she is a good-hearted witch.
Sweet Magnolias
Taking inspiration from the book series of the same name, the hit show follows three South Carolina women (JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott and Heather Headley) who have been best friends since childhood. They've encountered love, heartbreak and loss together, and as they start a project of opening up a spa, they encounter even more trials and tribulations.
Everwood
When a wealthy Manhattan doctor (Treat Williams) tragically loses his wife, he decides to move his son (Gregory Smith) and daughter (Vivien Cardone) to the small town of Everwood, Colorado for a fresh start. Along the way, each member of the family learns the values of kindness and love and how grief can bring everyone closer together.
Gilmore Girls
Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and her teenage daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel) are beloved citizens in their small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Their bond is also super strong, as they both experience new things that shake up who they know themselves to be. But they don't just have to do life alone — they have their friends, family, and a lot of coffee to help them out, too!
