It's been over three decades since the original Jurassic Park film hit movie theaters in 1993 — but there are still more stories to explore for the hit movie franchise.

Longtime fans are ready to see what else is in store with the release of Jurassic World Rebirth on July 2. But given all the time between the first and last films, it's only fair we give ourselves a refresh. Well, get ready to jog your memories, with our guide on how to watch all the Jurassic Park movies in order.

For the most part, the Jurassic Park films follow a straightforward timeline. Meaning: watching the films in the order in which they were released is the same as watching them in chronological order. But if you'd prefer to dive into lesser-known projects that fit into the Jurassic Park franchise (like the animated show Camp Cretaceous), you'll have to watch specific seasons at certain times to stay in chronological order. (FYI, we're giving you that entire list at the end of this story).

So sit back, relax as much as you can and get ready to run with the dinosaurs!

Just as life finds a way, Jurassic Park found its way into theaters in 1993, kicking off a franchise by terrifying viewers with tales of renegade T. rexes and velociraptors that hunt in packs. Even though it was the first film, under Steven Spielberg's direction, the state-of-the-art special effects still hold up today.

Spielberg returned four years later for the sequel, which saw the action move from Isla Sorna, where generically engineered dinosaurs had survived, to mainland San Diego. For those who prefer movies that are more about the action and less about the sci-fi, this one has some of the nastiest dinosaur carnage.

This time, Spielberg passed the torch on to director Joe Johnston, who would go on to direct Captain America: The First Avenger. While no one picks this one as their favorite, for dinosaur fans, it's got one thing going in its favor: Pteranodons.

Amblin Entertainment

Over 20 years after the original Jurassic Park premiered, a new generation took over, trying to maximize thrills for people who are no longer awed by the sight of dinosaurs alone. This applies to both the fictional theme park — the setting and subject of Jurassic World — and the filmmakers and audiences for the movie series. Director Colin Trevorrow took over the series with a cast anchored by actors Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. The premise? In light of flagging attendance, the park has created a new and awesome creature: the Indominus Rex. (What could go wrong?)

A volcano is set to erupt on the island where Jurassic World once stood, and humans are faced with a choice: Let the dinosaurs go extinct (again), or try to save them. Animal activists like Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) try to protect the creatures, but they may be playing into the hands of those with darker motives for wanting dinosaurs to survive.

As noted above, the Jurassic Park movies are already in chronological order, so you can watch them in order of release. But if you're a completist who wants to watch every bit of associated media in order, this also adds all five seasons of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, a Netflix animated series with a timeline that runs concurrent to the movies, and YouTube's "Battle at Big Rock," a short film about the first modern human/dinosaur confrontation.

Here's the correct order in which to watch:

  1. Jurassic Park
  2. The Lost World: Jurassic Park
  3. Jurassic Park III
  4. Jurassic World/Camp Cretaceous: Seasons 1 and 2
  5. Camp Cretaceous: Season 3
  6. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
  7. Camp Cretaceous: Season 4
  8. Camp Cretaceous: Season 5
  9. "Battle at Big Rock"
  10. Jurassic World: Dominion
  11. Jurassic World Rebirth
