Penelope Garcia and Derek Morgan reunited, and it feels so good to see them together again!
Fans of Criminal Minds remember the iconic friendship that developed between Kirsten Vangsness (who played Garcia) and Shemar Moore (who portrayed Morgan) over the years. While Shemar left the CBS drama after 11 seasons, Kirsten continues to portray her character on the Criminal Minds: Evolution spinoff series (now filming season 4) on Paramount+.
Even though it's been some time since the two actors have shared the screen, they surprisingly took their bond all the way to the basketball court! Both Kirsten and Shemar were on hand to watch the Dallas Wings WNBA team play against the Los Angeles Sparks on August 20. As a result, the two took photos together on the sidelines, along with Shemar's daughter Frankie and her mother Jesiree Dizon.
"The Baby Girl sees the Baby Girls and @shemarfmoore aka Chocolate Thunder (please note that @jesiree is a glowing angel in every single picture she’s ever taken ⚡️)," Kirsten affectionately wrote on Instagram about her and Shemar's reunion.
When folks caught on to the fact Kirsten and Shemar managed to reunite away from TV, they couldn't stop screaming in excitement about it.
"This healed something in me," one person wrote in the comments. "OMG!!! HELLO!? Is nobody else freaking out ... ," another exclaimed. "Awh what a beautiful reunion," a different follower added.
But that's not all. Some folks also used this moment to voice their thoughts on getting Shemar to return to the Criminal Minds franchise.
"The original baby girl and chocolate thunder. I love this!! Bring back Derek Morgan!!" one fan begged. "Tell him we need him in Evolution 😭," another cried out. "Come on @kirstenvangsness talk him into a season 4 appearance 😍🔥," a different viewer commented.
While it's unclear whether Shemar plans on reprising Morgan for Criminal Minds: Evolution, it's nice to see him continue his friendship with Kirsten outside of work. And let's not forget that Shemar is coming back to TV at some point, with his new series S.W.A.T. Exiles (a spinoff of his original S.W.A.T. show that ended back in May) getting green lit to film 10 episodes.
We need to see Kirsten and Shemar together more often!
