This story contains light spoilers from season 12 of When Calls the Heart.
It's official, When Calls the Heart fans: a fan-favorite character is making her way back to Hope Valley.
Season 13 of the hit Hallmark drama is currently filming new episodes, and folks are so ready to get back to the 1920s with their favorite frontier citizens. While viewers are thrilled to see Elizabeth Thornton (Erin Krakow)'s latest storyline (along with plenty of others), it turns out another actress is returning for the all-new installment.
As fans learned on Instagram on August 12, actress Melissa Gilbert will be reprising her role as Georgie McGill in When Calls the Heart season 13. And if that's not enough, she gave a surprise clue about which episode viewers can expect her to pop up on the show.
"Heading back to #hopevalley next week," she wrote in the caption alongside a photo of her TV script. "Going to play with my pals @jackwagnerofficial @erinkrakow @ben_rosenbaum @phutton @kavansmith @kevin_mcgarry_w @jaedalilymiller @hylandgoodrich @vivleacock and all…My word this cast is huge! And wonderful! So is the crew! Can’t wait!! @wcth_tv @michaellandonjr1 @hallmarkchannel."
Given how folks loved seeing the Little House on the Prairie alum make her way back to When Calls the Heart in this manner, it didn't take long for the show's cast to express their excitement in the comments.
"See you soon!!!! ❤️," Pascale Hutton (who plays Rosemary Coulter) replied. "No one gives me scripts! What do I say in episode 6?" Kevin McGarry (who portrays Nathan Grant) joked. "Can’t wait to have sooo much fun with you, @melissagilbertoffical! 🎉🤗 See you in Hope Valley!" Hyland Goodrich (who portrays Little Jack Thornton) added.
Just like the actors on When Calls the Heart, fans of the long-running series were equally thrilled by Melissa's incredible career move.
"Yay!! Can’t wait to see Georgie back in action!!" one person exclaimed. "So excited for you! And for all of us- we love Georgie McGill! 😍," another cheered. "Woohoooo!! This is so awesome! 🙌😍🙌," a different follower noted.
Well, we certainly were hoping something like this would occur! And as viewers may remember, Melissa's character was first introduced back in season 12 in early 2025.
At the time, Georgie (who is a forensic inspector) had a past history with Bill Avery (Jack Wagner), and she assisted him on a case involving the Garrison gang. And even though she only appeared in a handful of episodes, it was clear Georgie and Bill had some romantic chemistry. So, even though we don't know what her storyline may be, perhaps that plot will be carried through with Melissa.
Regardless, we're so excited and can't wait to see what's next for Melissa (and Georgie)!
