Kelli Giddish is officially back on Law & Order: SVU — and she has something to say about it.
Back in 2022, fans of the NBC drama were outraged when they learned Kelli would be leaving the show as Detective Amanda Collins. At the time, she had been on SVU for more than a decade, and her role was well-loved among those who tuned in every week on NBC. And while Rollins had popped up over the years on both SVU and Law & Order: Organized Crime, folks were eager to see if there was a chance for Kelli to make her grand return to the TV franchise.
Well, almost three months after news broke about Kelli's comeback on Law & Order: SVU for season 27, the actress opened up to Extra about the latest phase in her career. As she explained to the outlet, she couldn't be more thrilled to be joining Mariska Hargitay, Ice-T, Peter Scanavino and other cast members in this comeback to the procedural drama.
"I’m back as a series regular, and I couldn’t be happier about it," she stated in the clip uploaded on August 8. "It feels right. I got the offer, and I was like, 'Of course, of course.' I can’t wait to come back. And we have a new showrunner this year, so that’s going to be exciting to see what she puts on the page for us to play with. It feels revitalized in a whole new way, even though it’s Season 27."
But that's not all Kelli had to say about the subject. Even though the actress had to keep things at a minimum about what's to come on Law & Order: SVU season 27, (which begins on Thursday, September 25, 2025 on NBC) she didn't hesitate to tease some potential fun surprises that fans will want to pay attention to.
"We just started to film," she noted at the time of the interview taking place about the current status of the new season. "We got the premiere under our belt, and that was a lot of fun. There might be some appearances by people who might surprise you. So that is going to be a treat for the fans. It’s joyous. It’s a joyous moment right now."
Indeed, things definitely seem to be joyous for Kelli! She's not only been on set with the rest of the cast, she and Mariska even got into some fun antics by trying their hand at the viral "Law & Order" TikTok dance on Instagram.
"Special Dance Unit 💃 #SVU," the caption read alongside the snippet.
Looks like we're ready for some fun moments with Kelli's return this fall!
