- Jeopardy! season 42 will air on TV beginning in September 2025.
- The hit quiz show series will have a few changes made before the first episode premieres, according to a new report.
- Host Ken Jennings also alluded to some new changes with an Instagram post.
We're just weeks away from a brand-new season of Jeopardy! ... and it looks like there may be some changes we need to know about.
Season 42 of the hit quiz show will be back on our TV screens this fall, and folks are ready to see Ken Jennings once again as the official host. But as it turns out, there might be some new twists coming our way — and it looks like we're already getting a first look.
Thanks to a new post shared on Instagram on August 6, Ken teased that the Jeopardy! set may look a little different when the show comes back on the air. As the photo showed the set with red lighting instead of its traditional blue hue, he teased that more was on the way.
"POV you’re back in the studio about to walk onstage to kick off the forthcoming season 42 of @jeopardy!" he wrote in the caption.
When fans caught wind of Ken's exciting Jeopardy! update, many couldn't hold back their excitement.
"42! Which of course, is the answer to life, the universe, and everything!" one person wrote in the comments. "I can’t wait!!!!!! My heart ugh ❤️," another agreed. "Interesting stage lighting there, not the usual blue shades! It almost feels like Halloween with that lol," a different follower noted.
While it's unclear exactly what this means in terms of set design, the U.S. Sun quoted a Jeopardy! "insider" who says folks can expect the show to have some new set pieces seen throughout, although they didn't provide specific details on what that means.
But if that's not enough, there is one other thing that will definitely stick out to viewers: an uptick in sponsored categories could be on the way.
As many Jeopardy! fans know, these sponsored categories usually feature celebrities or brands promoting their latest projects on television while giving clues. Over the years, we've seen Michael Strahan, Glenn Close and other celebs give clues, which have been met with mixed reviews by viewers. Luckily, the insider did say that the "the heart of the show, will be the same," which we have no doubt about.
Good Housekeeping reached out to Jeopardy! for comment on if changes are afoot for season 42. While we hadn't received confirmation at the time of publishing, we'll definitely keep you updated as soon as we know more.
