• Chad Michael Murray starred as Lucas Scott on One Tree Hill for six seasons.
  • The actor was asked about reprising his role in a One Tree Hill reboot for Netflix.
  • He also mentioned what the premise of what the One Tree Hill reboot could be.

Hold up — is there a chance to see Lucas Scott again back in Tree Hill? Well, it seems like Chad Michael Murray is ready to share his thoughts on this.

Fans of One Tree Hill are well aware that the CW drama aired on TV for nine seasons. For the series' first six seasons, though, fans got to see Chad portray Lucas as he underwent trials in love, heartbreak, family and plenty more. Needless to say, he became a well-loved character on the show — and it also shot Chad to stardom in a way he hadn't experienced.

So, when news broke out about Netflix working on a One Tree Hill spinoff series (with Hilarie Burton and Sophia Bush among those slated to return as Peyton Sawyer and Brooke Davis) in October 2024, it was clear viewers would want to know Chad's status on joining the reboot. Well, the Sullivan's Crossing star had some ideas about it when speaking to Bustle to promote his new film Freakier Friday. So, is there a chance for folks to see Lucas back on TV soon?

"I don't have any updates on anything from that world," he told the outlet about returning as Lucas in a video posted on Instagram. "I hope if they make it, that they make it for this new generation. You know, I hope that it's about, like, a young group of kids, so that this generation of youth can see themselves in the characters."

Hmm ... that's not what we were thinking Chad would say about this! Even though he's seemingly tight-lipped about any potential involvement, he did share how he thinks the One Tree Hill reboot could resonate with today's watchers.

"I mean, there's so many current things, trials and tribulations that the youth is going through right now," he added. "From social media to identities to everything from the LGBT community and just loving each other — like, we need guidance. I think people can identify with the turmoil that goes on from that show and the way that those stories were told. But I think that that's what I would want it to be."

Well, it seems like we'll need to keep our eyes peeled about this! Given how Lucas' mark on One Tree Hill ended with him marrying Peyton and leaving North Carolina to raise their young daughter, there are certainly some interesting pieces that could be explored should this all go our way.

Now, who do we talk to about bringing Chad on for this project?
