This story contains slight spoilers for the Grey's Anatomy season 21 finale.
Let's all go back to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, because an all-new season of Grey's Anatomy is coming our way very soon.
The longtime ABC drama was officially renewed for season 22 back in April, and since then, viewers have been wondering when new episodes would appear on their TV screens. The network wanted to share some exciting news with viewers ahead of time, like the fact that Grey's Anatomy season 22 will premiere on Thursday, October 9, on ABC. But that's not all. Alongside the announcement, the show's official Instagram account confirmed the news with a teaser for what's to come this season.
"Time is ticking," the caption read alongside a video montage on July 29. "See you Thursday, October 9 on ABC. Stream on Hulu."
ABC initially announced that Grey's Anatomy would premiere a week later, on October 16, but moved the date up by one week. As fans realized that season 22 would arrive sooner than expected, they immediately expressed their excitement on social media.
"I love the one week earlier! Less time to prepare to have my heart broken by Grey’s … But I love it! 😍😂," one person wrote in the comments. "I don’t know about you, but i’m feeling 22," another penned. "I AM SOOO PUMPED ! BEEN WAITING FOR WAY TOO LONG! 🖤," a different follower added.
Now, isn't this exciting news to be thrilled about? While we aren't 100% sure about what's to come from our favorite first responders, we do know the show left season 21 with a massive cliffhanger involving a hostage crisis and a bomb going off inside Grey Sloan. And other than knowing that Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), Ben Warren (Jason George) and likely Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington) weren't in the building when it occurred, it'll be a surprise to see who survives at the beginning of season 22.
