The prequel series originally debuted in October 2024 on CBS, and fans have been enthralled with learning about Leroy Jethro Gibbs (played by both Mark Harmon and Austin Stowell)' origin story ahead of him becoming a major player on the original NCIS. And after the show got renewed for season 2 back in February 2025, viewers are eager to know when they can see new episodes appear on their TV screens.
Well, the wait is almost over, because CBS went on Instagram to reveal the release date for NCIS: Origins season 2. Fans should mark their calendars for this one, as NCIS: Origins season 2 will premiere on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Even better news, it follows the season 23 premiere of NCIS happening at 8 p.m. ET/PT that same day, and the season 3 premiere of NCIS: Sydney tops the night off at 10 p.m.
"Tuesdays, we're coming home 👏👏," the caption read on July 11.
As soon as viewers learned they'll get to see NCIS: Origins season 2 air sooner than they thought, they immediately bombarded the comments with excitement.
"Origins! Can’t wait 💪🏻," one person penned. "YEAAHHHHHH NCIS ORIGINS COME ONNNNN," another cheered. "I love the OG and current cast but Origins is outstanding!!!" a another commenter added.
Well, we certainly weren't expecting this news to occur so soon! What's more, it looks like production is underway, thanks to a video Austin shared on Instagram on July 27. He posted a montage of him changing his hair back into the look Gibbs sports on NCIS: Origins, while teasing that fans may see him sooner rather than later.
"Gibbs is back in 5 ... 4 ... 3 ... 2 ... 1 ... ," he wrote over the video montage.
Well, sign us up, because we're more than ready to get back in step with Gibbs when NCIS: Origins season 2 premieres this fall!
