Guess what, Sweet Magnolias fans? It looks like season 5 may be coming sooner than we thought!
As viewers know, season 4 of the hit Netflix show aired back in February, and since then, we've been eager to see Maddie Townsend (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Dana Sue Sullivan (Brooke Elliott) and Helen Decatur (Heather Headley) back together again.
And have we got a surprise for you! In late June, TikTok user @rosetintedglass7 caught a glimpse of the trio filming in New York's famed Grand Central Station.
"Never know what you'll see on your morning commute in NYC," the caption read alongside the clip (you can watch it here).
As soon as other Sweet Magnolias fans caught a glimpse of the video, they immediately were thrilled to learn that season 5 was officially in the works.
"Stoppppppp my favorite girls 😍," one person wrote in the comments. "Yessss they made it to NYC!!!!! Oh this season will be so good 🥰🥰🥰," another declared. "Awesome!!!! Another season of my favorite trio," a different follower added.
While surprising to see the production so soon after season 4, it's not surprising the cast is in New York. After all, the season ended by revealing that Maddie had accepted a book publishing job in New York City. At the time, some fans were worried that the distance might impact their friendship, but executive producer and showrunner Sheryl J. Anderson made it a point to reassure everyone.
"Can anything end the Magnolias?! Our ladies have seen each other through bigger challenges than physical distance," Sheryl shared with TV Insider. "When you love someone, you want what’s best for them and want to help them reach that goal. True friends celebrate each other in times of victory, embolden each other to seize their passion, and then link arms to figure out logistics."
Between her quote and the latest TikTok, it's safe to say we have nothing to worry about.
