Well, we hate to be the bearer of bad news, but HGTV fans need to be made aware of this shocking new development.
In a surprising turn of events, HGTV has decided not to renew the hit series Married to Real Estate. If the announcement has left you stunned and/or disappointed, you are certainly not alone. The news was confirmed by the show's star, Egypt Sherrod, in an emotional Instagram post shared shortly after returning from a family vacation.
"Mike and I just landed back in the states after an unforgettable family trip through the Mediterranean," Sherrod wrote, "and we're met with unexpected news: HGTV has decided not to move forward with Married to Real Estate."
She went on to express gratitude for the show's four seasons, their dedicated crew, and the ultimate support from fans over the past few years. "Grateful that we are still very much married to real estate (and each other)," she added. She ended the heartbreaking message with a hint of optimism, saying, "Not all setbacks are what they seem. Some blessings show up in disguise."
Needless to say, the announcement sent shockwaves through the show's fan base, who quickly took to social media to share their reactions. Comments poured in under Egypt's post, with fans expressing disbelief and disappointment. "Love u guys! You are inspiring and your content will shine no matter where it is!" and "So disappointing but you are such a class act, always! Even better things to come," wrote fans.
Even fellow HGTV star Ty Pennington was left in absolute disbelief and left a lengthy comment saying, "You know, in general I thought I had decent gauge about what TV executives wanted and the last few years have completely shattered that. Seriously shocked to hear this! Ya’ll are true professionals and I especially loved the designs from the last season 🙌 Keeping doing you 🙏🏼❤️ Onward and upward!"
Though the show is coming to an end, the Sherrods' chemistry and design expertise are going no where soon as they continue down their own career path. Egypt is a seasoned real estate broker and author, while Mike Jackson is a professional builder and contractor. Together, they run Indigo Road, their Atlanta-based design and construction firm. Even beyond real estate, the couple is involved in mentorship and constantly use their platform to uplift aspiring entrepreneurs.
While this beloved chapter may be coming to a close, it's clear the Sherrods have so much more to share. "Stay tuned," Egypt teased at the end of her announcement. We have a feeling this powerhouse duo has so much more to give.
