Even though Criminal Minds: Evolution season 3 (season 18 overall) is still airing new episodes, we already have an update about the show's next installment.

Ahead of the Paramount+ reboot premiering the current season back in May, fans of the Criminal Minds franchise were ecstatic to learn the show was already renewed for season 4 (season 19 overall). While cast members like Paget Brewster teased that the cast got back together for pre-production, the show had an even better update viewers didn't see coming.

Thanks to a photo posted on the show's Instagram on May 30, folks discovered Criminal Minds: Evolution season 4 was officially filming episodes. What's more, folks got to see the BAU back together in their fictional office in Quantico.

"The BAU is back on the case!" read the caption alongside the image. "A new season of Criminal Minds: Evolution has officially started filming. 🎬."

As soon as fans realized Criminal Minds: Evolution season 4 was officially a-go, they couldn't help but voice their excitement in the comments.

"SEASON 19 HERE WE GO!!!" one person shouted. "I love this show so much. I’ve been watching it since it first started. Please don’t cancel this amazing show. ❤️," another replied. "MY FAMILY IS BACK 😭🙏," a different viewer added.

Well, this is definitely a thrilling update about one of our favorite TV shows! And with Paget, Kirsten, Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Aisha Tyler, Adam Rodriguez and Ryan-James Hanataka all on board, you'd think they're the only ones returning ... right? Well, think again, as Zach Gilford is also coming back as Elias Voit — and he shared a major detail about his role on the series.

"I'm also going to be directing episode 7 of season 4, and I'm hoping it wasn't like beginner's luck the first time," Zach exclusively told Good Housekeeping in June 2025. "But Joe said I could do it — I gotta get a hat made with that!"

Well, we can't wait to see what's next!
