Jennifer Love Hewitt is taking time to remember someone who continues to mean a lot to her.
Back in 2012, the 9-1-1 star's mother Patricia passed away from complications due to cancer. Jennifer has publicly paid tribute to her mom on the anniversary of her death over the years, and 2025 was no different. As she shared an Instagram post featuring throwback photos of both her and Patricia, Jennifer paid a heartbreaking tribute about the impact losing her mom continues to have on her.
"13 years ago I lost you," she began the emotional post on June 12. "Yet in this very special place in my heart on every anniversary it still feels like it’s new. It hits me. Sometimes feels like anxiety or other times just an ache but I feel it every year. You were that special. You are that special."
"I remember knowing as a kid if I lost you, my life wouldn’t be the same," she added. "I was right. Thank you for watching over me and my little family. For keeping bubba safe and showing up for me in small and big ways when I need you. I love you mom. Always and forever. ❤️."
As fans noticed Jennifer's poignant note about Patricia online, they took to the comments to rally around her in support.
"Sending you so much love. Your mama made the most magical human!" one person wrote. "What a beautiful tribute ❤️ I'm sure she is very proud of you! 🙏🏻," another agreed. "So precious. I know she’s looking down with the biggest smile knowing what an amazing mother and wife you’ve become. ❤️," a different follower added.
Even though Jennifer's mother is no longer alive, it doesn't mean she's not bringing Patricia's memory to life in different ways.
Patricia's death and Jennifer's journey through grief became the inspiration for her 2024 holiday movie The Holiday Junkie (which also starred Jennifer's husband Brian Hallisay and their children Autumn, Atticus and Aidan), and she later wrote about the loss in her memoir Inheriting Magic: My Journey Through Grief, Joy, Celebration and Making Everything Magical. And as she told People, Jennifer is proud of the ways she's keeping Patricia's memory alive.
"If you had asked me when my mom was still on the planet if I could live without her, I would’ve said no," she told the outlet in December 2024. "So I’m really proud of myself."
