HGTV fans are getting a glimpse at what it's really like to live in a 500-year-old castle. And while we've already fell under the spell of Daphne Reckert and Ian Figueira's fairytale-like story on Castle Impossible, we can't help but wonder if they've had any paranormal encounters as they renovate the centuries-old property.
I addressed the question on TikTok. He says, "Daphne and I get a lot of people who ask if the castle is haunted." Then he recounts a story as he walks down into the dungeon led by a flashlight to check on the electric box. He explains, "What happened was I was down here taking photos and Daphne was with me. But then she had to get something from across the property, and she went up to the surface level, and I continued taking photos. After a few minutes, I heard Daphne's footsteps coming down right here [shines light on staircase] and I started talking to her, thinking she was on her way back, but she didn't respond. So I looked down the corridor, which is the space that you can see all the way through the castle and no one was there."
He continues, "So I went up to the surface level and, lo and behold, Daphne was just exiting the hunter's lodge, about 200 feet away. So I was talking to no one. Or, maybe, I was talking to someone."
When HGTV shared a teaser of the show on Tik Tok, many commenters compared it to a fairy tale, but others said it sounded like the plot of CBS sitcom Ghosts. Either way, we're captivated!
New episodes of Castle Impossible air on HGTV on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST/8 p.m. CST. The series is available to stream next day on Max and Discovery+.
