9-1-1 has left longtime fans heartbroken thanks to the gut-wrenching death of Station 118 leader Bobby Nash (Peter Krause). While the show continues to keep mum on the future of this LAFD firehouse, one thing it has done is display how the other first responders are grieving the loss of their fearless leader. And for Maddie Buckley (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Howard "Chimney" Han (Kenneth Choi), they made sure that their friend would forever be remembered in a way that had viewers deep in their feelings.
In the season 8 finale (called "Seismic Shifts") that aired on May 15, fans of the ABC drama saw Maddie and Chimney welcome their second child into the world. When the 118 learned Maddie had given birth to a son, it didn't take long before Bobby's widow Athena Grant Nash (Angela Bassett) came to visit. When Maddie and Chimney decided to share they named their son Robert Nash Han, Athena got emotional knowing they paid tribute to her late husband. What's more, she made sure to give the child a special nickname when she got to him for the
"Hello, Bobby," Athena emotionally tells the baby in a clip posted on YouTube.
When fans saw the touching way 9-1-1 chose to honor Bobby's memory, many shared how glad they were for this turn of events online.
"I had a feeling that's what they were going to name the baby. A beautiful tribute," one person wrote in the comments. "I got emotional when [Chimney] said the baby's name was Robert Nash Han. A great way to honor Bobby's legacy and sacrifice," another agreed. "I knew they were gonna name the baby after Bobby. He would be thrilled," a different viewer added.
As fans know, Bobby bravely sacrificed his life for Chimney's when the 118 got trapped in a hazardous biolab. This left Athena angry with Chimney, and it took some time before their friendship was seemingly on a better track.
While 9-1-1 left fans on still curious about what's in the works for the 118, the finale certainly felt right. And as season 9 returns this fall on ABC, maybe we'll get to see more of little Bobby Han's milestones as his father Chimney may embark on a new chapter of his own.
