As one of the faces of Good Morning America, it's hard to think of a time when Robin Roberts wasn't sitting at the news desk and reporting the latest stories. Well, she's giving her followers a surprise update about how long she's been on the air — and it's coming in the form of an impressive milestone.
On May 9, the longtime ABC host took to Instagram to share a throwback moment from her first time anchoring GMA exactly 20 years earlier. Sharing the opening moments from that fateful day in 2005, fans got to see Robin anchor the show for the first time alongside Charlie Gibson and Diane Sawyer. What's more, she couldn't help but express her gratitude for how wonderful the journey on TV has been since then.
"Hard to believe it’s been 20 years since this day," she wrote in the caption. "My first day at the GMA anchor desk with @dianesawyer and Charlie. So grateful for the warm welcome that morning and every day since. Saying 'Good Morning America' is still a thrill!"
Given how Robin has been a staple on GMA for so many years, fans had to take to the comments to share just how much they've enjoyed watching her for all this time.
"Can’t imagine GMA without you. Congratulations on all your success. Well deserved and much respect 💙," one person wrote in the comments. "Happy 20 year anniversary, @robinrobertsgma. Your impact is incalculable! ❤️," another declared. "And the news has never been better happy workaversary Robin ❤️," a different follower added.
As fans know, this clip of Robin's first time anchoring GMA is technically not from her first day working on the show. She previously posted a throwback video from 2002 on Instagram, sharing how she was a contributing anchor before taking on a more permanent position three years later.
As for what's next in Robin's world on GMA ... well, it looks like we'll just have to tune in to find out. Congrats, Robin!
