9-1-1 has undergone a major transition over the last few season 8 episodes ... and it looks like more is coming for longtime viewers.
Fans of the hit ABC drama are still reeling after discovering Station 118 captain Bobby Nash (Peter Krause) died to protect his crew members from being exposed to a virus in a hazardous bio lab. As they tuned in to see his fellow firefighters pay their respects, one question officially remains. Who is going to take over as the next captain of Station 118 on 9-1-1?
Well, thanks to a new promo for the May 8 episode (titled "Don't Drink the Water"), fans get to see who may be next in line for the coveted position. As the snippet showed Bobby's widow Athena Grant Nash (Angela Bassett) sit at a table with Henrietta "Hen" Wilson (Aisha Hinds), she makes it clear who she's hoping to step into her late husband's shoes.
"The best thing for the 118 would be you as captain," Athena emotionally tells Hen in the clip posted on YouTube.
"What if I don't want it?" Hen responds with uncertainty.
When fans saw this pivotal conversation be teased for the next 9-1-1 installment, they definitely had some thoughts about Hen not being keen on taking Bobby's position at the firehouse.
"Henrietta would be an incredible captain!" one person wrote in the YouTube comments. "Do you think Hen will be Captain?" a different viewer asked. "HEN CAPTAIN PLSPLSPSLSPSLS," another begged on X (formerly Twitter).
Even though we'll need to wait until the episode airs to see what comes of this conversation, it's not the first time 9-1-1 has seemingly tried to place Hen as acting captain of the 118. Back in January 2024, fans saw her wear the captain firefighting helmet in a season 7 behind-the-scenes video. It was further confirmed Bobby had quit working as captain of the 118, before eventually returning to his position in the middle of season 8.
Needless to say, we wouldn't be opposed to seeing Hen step up to the plate in this manner!
