Diana Ross made a big splash at fashion's biggest night of the year ... but she couldn't leave her family behind for the occasion!

It's been more than 20 years since fans last saw the former Supremes singer make her way down the red carpet for the Met Gala back in 2003. Well, folks definitely got quite a shock when they discovered Diana made her triumphant return to the coveted event on May 5.

Nodding to the 2025 Met Gala's theme of "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," the Grammy winner wowed audiences in-person and at home by wearing a floor-length crystal gown, a feather-rimmed hat and an 18-foot matching train that six attendants had to help carry down the red carpet. But as it turns out, the glitz and glamour wasn't the true moment for Diana. As she explained to La La Anthony for Vogue's YouTube red carpet interview, she actually had a special memento for her children and grandchildren secretly stitched into the look.

"[The train] has the names of all my children, and my eight grandchildren. Everybody's name is embroidered." she explained while standing alongside her son Evan Ross. "And the hat, I had to be careful with the hat because my head was pretty big."

Upon hearing about Diana's sentimental nod to her family, fans couldn't get enough of it online.

"THAT'S MAMAAAAA," one person wrote in the YouTube comments. "The original style icon," another declared. "She is a legend đź’•đź’•đź’•," a different follower exclaimed.

Well, this is a family moment we absolutely love! And as Diana later added, Evan actually had to convince her to attend the Met Gala.

"My son persuaded me, because I'm actually on tour," she shared. "He said, 'Mom, you've gotta go' ... because it is a very special moment."

Now, we may just have to do something similar for all future events we attend!
