Jennifer Hudson is someone who can truly do it all. She's an Emmy-winning producer, Grammy-winning artist, Oscar-winning actress and Tony-winning producer. And did we mention she also hosts her own daytime talk show, The Jennifer Hudson Show, all while being a mother to her 15-year-old son?
It's safe to say that if there's anyone who is deserving of some time off, it's Hudson. Her recent partnership with HomeGoods for the brand's launch of Finding Time Off (FTO) is dedicated to just that — the power of taking meaningful breaks.
"Because I've juggled so many things, it's hard to find time off for myself. So when I do find those little windows, I try to get as much me time in as I can before I give myself to others," Hudson tells Good Housekeeping.
While "me-time" tends to differ for everyone, 85% of Americans say they want to make time in their daily routine for more things that bring them joy, according to a HomeGoods commissioned survey.
For Hudson, that downtime is usually dedicated to enjoying art in one way, shape or form, whether it's whipping her camera out while on a nature-walk, getting creative with her fashion choices or styling her own home.
"It's all about rediscovering myself where I am now, especially after coming off of a long season of the talk show. I've been walking around like, 'Hmm, where's Jennifer?' Let me find me," she said.
As a HomeGoods enthusiast, Hudson feels a sense of calm walking through the aisles and finding the home products that match her own interior design style, which she describes as "grandmother's house meets granddaughter's house — a lot of tradition, but then a splash of a modern vibe to it."
Lately, she's been spending a lot of alone time on her patio, which she's decorated for spring with outdoor furniture, candles and other little trinkets she didn't know she needed until she was shopping at HomeGoods (we can relate!). While she's a loyal shopper, Hudson goes into her HomeGoods trips with a pretty relaxed mindset.
"Just enjoy the experience. Let yourself go and walk in the door. If you're looking for something, nine times out of 10, they've definitely got it. If not, they're going to have better so have several carts," she shared with a chuckle.
Whether it's heading out for a quick shopping trip, lighting a candle or cozying up under your favorite throw, Finding Time Off is all about carving out the time for activities that fulfill you, whatever they may be.
And if you happen to spend a lot of that spare time in the comfort of your own home like so many of us do, why not search for those hidden decor treasures that spark joy and help you stay present every time you see them?
"To see those things that remind you of who you are and put the warm, beautiful energy around you, that's what I love," she said.
