Al Roker is taking on a new gig for the Today show — and it's one that's all about the world of fashion.

The longtime TV host is notable for covering the weather and sharing human interest stories on the NBC daytime series. Well, Al revealed he'll be dressing his sharpest on Monday, May 5, as he's set to be a correspondent for the network at the 2025 Met Gala. What's more, he shared how he's actually stepping in for his co-host Sheinelle Jones, who'd usually cover the event and is currently on leave for personal reasons.

So, how did fans learn about Al Roker's career first? He posted an Instagram video on April 28 documenting the preparation for the Met Gala.

"Well, work has begun on getting ready for the Met Gala at the beautiful Metropolitan Museum of Art," he stated in the clip. "This year, I'm actually gonna be covering it on the red carpet, talking about 'Superfine' Black tailoring and dandyism."

When viewers discovered Al would be taking on one of the biggest fashion events of the year, they couldn't wait to see what he'd do in that environment.

"Have fun! Maybe next year you and Sheinelle can do it?! ❤️," one person suggested in the comments. "Super exciting!!!!!! 👏," another agreed. "My Most Favorite Day of the year!!!! 🔥🔥🔥," a different follower added.

In addition to confirming the milestone in his Instagram caption by writing that he "never did it before," Al also commented on the theme of this year's event and subsequent fashion exhibit.

Co-chaired by Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky and Pharrell Williams, Vogue revealed the annual event's theme is "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style." Based on Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, the outfits will nod to characteristics of what the outlet calls "dandy style." The dress code for the 2025 Met Gala is also described as "Tailored for You," nodding to a focus on menswear and suits.

Well, we're pumped about this and can't wait to see Al on the red carpet the first Monday in May!
