Just when Fixer Upper star Chip Gaines was starting to embrace his long-haired look, wife Joanna's birthday rolled around and she only had one celebratory wish: for Chip to ditch the long locks.
The Magnolia Network stars shared a hilarious video documenting Chip's transformation. Let's just say, after seeing the results, Joanna, who celebrated her 47th birthday on April 19, was totally onto something.
The Instagram video opens with Chip cruising around on his lawnmower, his long hair falling into his face. It then cuts to their son Crew, adorably filming his dad in a hair salon. After giving the thumbs up and having several inches of hair left on the floor, Chip debuted his new, clean cut look. "I actually feel pretty good. I feel pretty light. Happy birthday, Jo!," he shouted from his lawnmower.
His dramatic, new look quickly sparked reactions from fans. "So much better! You know what they say! Happy wife! Happy life!," one person wrote. "Fantastic new look! 10 years younger. 🤩", added another. "You look like a million bucks!!," said a third. Just judging from the comment section, fans were in full agreement with Joanna and actually prefer Chip with the shorter cut.
This isn't the first time that the reality TV star has bid farewell to his flowing hair. In 2021, the Fixer Upper star surprised fans when he went completely bald. His new look had everyone's jaw on the floor, but it was all for a good cause. Chip donated his hair to Children With Hair Loss, a non-profit organization that provides human hair replacements at no cost to children and young adults facing medically-related hair loss.
With his fresh new look and signature charm, Chip is proving once again that sometimes, change (and listening to Joanna) really is a good thing.
