Wynonna Judd has been gracing country stages for more than 40 years, but that doesn’t stop her from feeling overwhelmed by gratitude for the chance to stand before a sold-out crowd.
On Thursday, April 24, the 60-year-old singer took to Instagram to reflect on her most recent memorable performance.
“I knew it was going to be special from the moment we rehearsed it at soundcheck,” she began in the carousel caption. “Singing ‘your Kentucky girl’s been waiting patiently’ to a sold out stadium crowd in my home state… words can’t describe the feeling! What an unforgettable night. Thank you, Lexington.”
Many of Wynonna’s fans echoed that same sentiment back to her. “I checked off a bucket list item and had a great time,” one fan exclaimed. “It was the BEST,” someone else commented on her post. “She was on fire that night,” another fan wrote. “You made this West Virginia gal’s day—bucket list to see you,” someone else remarked. “It was a great show. You were wonderful. So glad I was there,” another Instagrammer shared.
As grateful as Wynonna and many of her fans are for the experience, quite a few others were left speechless by one small detail of her performance, namely, that she was the opening act for Tyler Childers’ On the Road Tour.
“Opening act?????” one TikToker commented on a fan’s video from the night. “Yea, I don't ever see Wynonna as an opening act,” someone else chimed in. “He should be opening for her,” another fan commented.
Regardless of why she was there, we’re just glad Wynonna got the chance to sing her heart out to a sold-out crowd in her home state.
