Jennifer Love Hewitt is coming back to the big screen β and fans will be thrilled by this huge update on her much-anticipated project.
The 9-1-1 star has been teasing her return as Julie James in the I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel movie, and she even gave a first look at filming the role in early February. Well, Jennifer now has slasher fans even more excited, as she revealed big news about the film, which hits theaters on July 18, 2025.
Posting a surprise announcement on Instagram on April 22, Jennifer revealed that fans can now watch the trailer for the new I Know What You Did Last Summer movie. And if that's not enough, she's already trying to entice her followers to go see the film when it comes out.
"Did we get you hooked?" she teased in the caption. "See you all this summer π€ #iknowwhatyoudidlastsummer."
As soon as fans realized Jennifer was sharing the first real look at her role in I Know What You Did Last Summer, it caused a frenzy in the comments.
"OUR FAVORITE SCREAM QUEEN IS BACK," one person declared. "Oh it looks Good!!!!! Welcome back!" another exclaimed. "My 90s teen slasher film heart is screaming!" a different follower added. "Waited so long for this. You are the queen of this franchise and Iβm just so happy you are back as Julie! ππππππ," a fourth commenter gushed.
Now, this is a movie we're definitely excited for! What's more, Jennifer isn't the only original cast member returning to the big screen for the next installment in the movie franchise. Freddie Prinze Jr. is also back, reprising his role as Ray Bronson.
As for who else can be expected to appear in the I Know What You Did Last Summer movie sequel, fans may recognize stars like Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders and Jonah Hauer-King. Additionally, director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson teased what's to come from the big film β and fans aren't going to be disappointed.
"We approached it like super fans, so I think people are going to be really happy," she told People. "All the things that you want to see in this movie, you're going to see in this movie."
