Al Roker is remembering someone who meant the world to him.
On April 20, millions of people worldwide celebrated the holiday of Easter. The Today show host was one of the many who gathered with his family for the occasion, but the date also held special importance to him. As Al shared on Instagram, Easter this year coincided with the birthday of his late mother Isabel (who died in 2007), and he used the moment to share sweet throwback photos while paying tribute to how special she was to him.
"For the first time I can remember, Easter coincides with Isabel Roker’s birthday," he wrote in the caption. "I always think about her raising her arms up during the Easter hymn, 'I Am The Bread Of Life.' Deborah and the kids always watch me during the song in case I lose it and they console me. Happy Birthday, Mom."
Shortly after Al posted the heartfelt dedication online, it didn't take long before his wife Deborah Roberts had her own comments about it.
"We miss you Isabel! ❤️," she emotionally replied.
Just like Deborah, fans immediately rallied around Al in support upon seeing him remember his mother on social media.
"She must have been an incredible woman to have raised a true gentleman!" one person wrote in the comments. "So sweet. Thank you for sharing this. Happy Easter and Happy Mrs. Isabel’s birthday! ❤️," another penned. "Sending hugs of support your way," a different follower added.
Even though Al is taking the time to remember his mom, it's important to remember he has a lot to celebrate this year. Along with his daughter Leila getting engaged to Sylvain Gricourt back in March, he also is a proud grandfather to his granddaughter Sky Clara (her mother Courtney Roger Laga and her husband Wesley Laga welcomed Sky back in July 2023).
And as far as how the rest of Al's Easter went? He later shared a proud moment post-Church services with Deborah and their son Nick on Instagram.
"Another Easter with family and friends," he wrote in the caption.
