Christina Haack is reflecting on her past—and opening up. The HGTV star recently posted a heartfelt message on her Instagram, where she revealed a major personal breakthrough. "As someone who recently discovered I have anxious-attachment—not sure what took me so long—and for sure a history of co-dependency issues," she wrote, "Things can be challenging. And by 'things' I mean 'me.'"
This revelation comes on the heels of a very dramatic divorce from ex-husband Josh Hall. (In case you didn't get the memo, there's been a lot of shade between the two, and the once-couple is allegedly headed to court.) While Haack has moved on with beau Chris Larocca, she shares that being in a happy, healthy relationship has actually been a bit of a learning curve.
"Meeting an unexpected good man who has his own amazing career, life, and hobbies (who also happens to have zero jealousy) can at times feel strange for someone who has had the opposite," she confesses. However, Haack shares she's ready to "break the cycle."
"I am for sure guilty of putting pressure on others," she says. " Facing my own insecurities has forced me into doing the shadow work I’ve been avoiding." Now, at 41 years old, the Christina on the Coast star says she's learning about safe communication and independence. "A relationship that is NOT 0-100," she adds.
It takes a lot for someone to not only realize patterns from their past, but also share their insights with 1.9 million social-media followers. Fortunately, Haack's fans flooded her comments with notes of encouragement. "I applaud your honesty and vulnerability," one commenter wrote. "We all have our things we work through." "Happy to hear you are digging deep," another said. "Stay true to yourself and enjoy your wonderful family, new guy, and most of all, the journey." Meanwhile, others praised Haack for being so relatable.
The future continues to look rosy for Haack and Larocca. Not only did the HGTV star reveal that she would forgo a first-class upgrade to sit next to her new boyfriend, but she even teased that she'd be open to getting married "one more time."
