Inheriting a castle is a pipe dream for some—but not for the stars of HGTV’s new series Castle Impossible. The network just announced the show, which follows a couple as they renovate their French chateau. The docuseries, premiering this month, looks like a treat for longtime HGTV viewers and newbies alike. So, now is the time to convince any of your non-HGTV-watching loved ones to tune in. Find out everything we know about the show below!

What Is Castle Impossible About?

Castle Impossible follows married couple Daphne Reckert and Ian Figueira as they renovate a 500-year-old chateau on a 130-acre estate just outside of Paris, which Reckert inherited from her late grandfather. While the sprawling property once welcomed guests like King Louis XIII, it’s not completely in tip-top shape. While the main floor retains its beautiful elegance from years long past (it often used to host weddings), the remaining floors and other buildings on the grounds have been neglected.

In the show, the couple will put their carpentry, conservation, and landscaping expertise to the test as they embark on a massive restoration process. Throughout the project, they “confront budget constraints, battle bug infestations, hunt for rumored hidden treasure, and tackle a seemingly endless list of projects head-on to breathe new life into the historic estate and preserve [Reckert’s] grandfather’s legacy,” according to HGTV.

When Does Castle Impossible Premiere?

Castle Impossible premieres on Tuesday, April 29, at 9 p.m. ET on HGTV. During the premiere, viewers can expect to see the couple transform the estate's bell tower into a lavish bedroom suite.
