With the competition heating up on American Idol this season, it's only fair to assume fans want to see more from the contestants vying for a place in the live shows. Well, now you can — and the show just quietly confirmed it.
Season 23 is in the middle of airing its famed Hollywood Week, and the musicians making an impact are certainly ones that have us tuning in ever week. But as fans may know, American Idol has been airing new episodes only on Sunday nights ... until now. Beginning on March 31, the ABC series decided to switch up their episode schedule for the remainder of the 2025 season. Along with installments dropping on Sunday nights, folks should also tune in for a new Monday night episode as well.
"#AmericanIdol is new tonight and tomorrow at 8/7c on ABC!" read the caption in a trailer posted on TikTok on April 6. "Join us for the Hollywood Week: Showstopper round before our IDOL hopefuls go Head-To-Head! Stream on Hulu."
When fans saw the news of American Idol adding another night to its episode roster every week, it didn't take long for them to get excited on social media.
"See you tonight! 🫵🏻," one person wrote on Instagram. "So ready for another great night in California 👏," another agreed. "Amazing ❤️❤️❤️," a different follower added.
So, will things change on American Idol now that a new episode will also air on Mondays? Nope — it's just more of your favorites competing week after week! And as for what this Monday has in store, well ... you'll definitely want to pay attention to this exciting piece of news.
As the "Head-to-Head" round of Hollywood Week debuts for the first time on American Idol, Billboard reports viewers will get to see the remaining 42 contestants go head-to-head as they fight their way to make it to the Top 24. And they won't be alone in terms of getting support from mentors along the way. As the show revealed on April 6, Jelly Roll will make his official debut as the new "Artist in Residence" and offer advice to those looking to make it big on the series.
"💥BOOM!💥," read the caption for a video preview on Instagram. "Our first-ever Artist in Residence @jellyroll615 will help our Idols prep for the first-ever Head-to-Head Round—MONDAY at 8/7c! 🙌."
