Fans of The Handmaid’s Tale, get ready to return to Gilead — though not in the way you may expect.
As you gear up for the show's 6th and final season, which premieres on April 8, 2025, you'll be thrilled to know that Hulu confirmed it picked up a spinoff, The Testaments.
The new iteration of the beloved show is also set to begin production April, with Elizabeth Moss, who plays June Osborne on as an executive producer — though it is not yet clear if fans will catch a glimpse of June in the show.
The Testaments is “based on Margaret Atwood’s sequel, her book, The Testaments, and it’s a very different point of view,” producer Warren Littlefield detailed to The New York Post.
“It’s young women coming of age in Gilead, four years after the killing of the harvest,” Warren added. “It’s a different world, it is a different palette, it is a different population, so much is different, and yet… we’ll pull the veil back and reveal that, yes, we’re still in Gilead.”
It is set to follow Agnes, June’s daughter (played by Jordana Blake) and her life in Gilead, according to Deadline. Alongside Jordana, Ann Dowd, who plays Aunt Lydia, is also expected to star in the new television series.
And that’s not all. Here’s the full list (so far) of new cast members joining Jordana and Ann, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
