Whether you know him from the Yellowstone prequel 1883 or one of his many Western films, Sam Elliott is an actor for the ages and showing no signs of stopping anytime soon.
The 80-year-old actor previously won a Screen Actors Guild Award for his role in 1883 and now there's buzz that he may star in yet another Taylor Sheridan series: Landman. Inspired by the podcast Boomtown, the series stars Billy Bob Thornton as a landman in West Texas seeking fortune among roughnecks and billionaires in the oil industry. Puck's Matthew Belloni broke the news, reporting, "I'm told Landman is also adding Sam Elliott as a main character for season two. His scenes with Billy Bob Thornton should be fun."
After announcing that the show would be returning to Paramount+ for a second season, fans flooded the comment section of the Instagram post in excitement, joking, "Took you long enough" and "I kept thinking how can a show about oil be any good. Oh man, I was so wrong. This show is freaking awesome."
Given these reactions, we can only imagine Sheridan fans' excitement in knowing that Western legend Sam Elliott is set to make his debut in the series. While no official details have been revealed about Elliott's character in season 2, it's pretty clear that this upcoming season's cast is a star-studded one. Although it's not clear whether Jon Hamm's character will be returning after the season one finale, fans can expect returning cast members like Demi Moore, Ali Larter, James Jordan, and Michelle Randolph.
Since the season 2 news was recently announced, there have been no reports on when the new season will be filmed or released on Paramount+, but at least this news will keep us satisfied until more updates are revealed.
