Craig Melvin just started a new role with the Today show, but fans already want him to do more!

The TV host became the Today show's co-anchor after Hoda Kotb's exit back in January, and folks love watching him report on current events and pop culture. But viewers also get to see him talk to various celebrities, which is exactly what happened when Martha Stewart came on to promote her milestone 100th book Martha Stewart's Gardening Handbook.

As part of the March 19 segment, Martha showed off some of the tools every gardener should have to get the best out of planting. As Martha tried to be serious about the subject, Craig had to sneak in a joke or two while they pruned a potted plant on the air. And while the segment proved to be successful, it was the behind-the-scenes clip of Martha and Craig in studio that captured attention from audiences.

"Notice how quickly she took [the hori hori gardening knife] back," Craig was caught joking in the snippet posted on Instagram. "Martha said I could have the hori hori."

After seeing both the segment and Craig and Martha's behind-the-scenes interaction, it didn't long before Today fans voiced a request for the show's producers.

"She is Martha Stewart ... She doesnโ€™t have time for your nonsense Craig ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Hilarious ๐Ÿ˜‚," one person wrote in the comments. "I wish they had their own show!!!" another declared. "I loved this segment so much! Let's make it a permanent spot!" a different follower agreed.

Now, that is a segment we'd tune in for! And even though we may not see the pair interact beyond the Today show, we can appreciate Craig wanting to get involved in a project Martha is certainly passionate about.

But since Martha is also hosting a new NBC competition series, Yes Chef! ... can we have Craig make a guest appearance?
