This story contains very light spoilers for the Ted Lasso season 3 finale.

It's almost time to get back on the soccer field, because Ted Lasso is officially coming back for season 4!

The hit Apple TV+ series last aired new episodes back in May 2023, and fans have been begging for another installment of Ted Lasso ever since. Well, star and co-creator Jason Sudeikis delivered the ultimate surprise by announcing that a new round of Ted Lasso is officially in the works. Revealing the news while appearing on the March 14 episode of the New Heights podcast, Jason even shared just how far along in the process Ted Lasso season 4 currently is.

"Is there [Ted Lasso] season 4?" podcast hosts and NFL stars Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce asked Jason in a clip posted on YouTube. "Are we allowed to say that?"

"I think you can ask it, yeah," Jason replied. "That's what we're writing. We're writing season 4 right now."

What's more, Jason decided he'd give a little tease about what's to come. Amid a new installment coming to TV, it also looks like there may be a significant change in regards to where Ted is heading next in his coaching career.

"That’s the official word, yeah. Ted’s coaching a women’s team," he added. "It's exciting, and I mean, it's daunting. you know? Because we told the story we wanted to tell. But there's more there and it is a neat group of people to work with. It's a wonderful group of people and characters to write around and for. There are so many likable characters in that and everybody plays their part."

As fans may remember, Ted Lasso season 3 ended with Keeley Jones (Juno Temple) attempting to convince Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) to work on a new project — the AFC Richmond women's team. If this is what Jason was referring to when it comes to Ted's next steps with AFC Richmond, then it's certainly something to keep an eye out for.
