Who's ready to see Matthew Gray Gubler back on our TV screens? Well, judging from what we just found out, it looks like it may be sooner than we think.
Back in October 2024, fans of the Criminal Minds alum were ecstatic to learn he was working on a brand-new pilot for CBS. Titled Einstein, the show is centered around Princeton University professor Lew Einstein, the fictional grandson of theoretical physicist Albert Einstein. What's more, according to Variety, Lew is described as "irreverent and misguided, [his] genius and famous name weighs heavily on him." But his intelligence will come in handy when "using his gift to help solve homicides may — finally — offer his life some direction and purpose."
With this in mind, many have been wondering about the latest status of Matthew's potential upcoming series. Well, thanks to TikTok user @jenna.leigh28, we have a new update. As it turns out, the actor is busy filming the pilot for Einstein in Toronto, Canada. Judging from the behind-the-scenes clip posted on March 16, he's already stepped into character as he was seen filming at what appeared to be Victoria College (part of the University of Toronto college system).
Dressed in what looked like casual work attire, Matthew (as Lew) seemingly had extras dragging something behind him as the cameras rolled on the group walking down a pathway. What's more, other actors were lined up on the sidelines to watch him film while seemingly blending in as college students.
Given how not much has been revealed about Matthew working on Einstein, seeing this thrilling update had fans going wild in the comments.
"That clip gets funnier the more I look at it 😂," one person wrote. "As a former Vic student the Victoria College courtyard is a standout 😍," another noted. "How am I in Toronto every day of the week but have not been graced with his presence?" a different follower inquired.
Well, this is exciting news! And let's not forget — Matthew is already coming back to TV later this year, as he will reprise his role as Dr. Spencer Reid in Criminal Minds: Evolution season 3 (season 18 overall in the Criminal Minds franchise).
After all of this, we can't wait to see what's next!
